The Workforce Compass

This dashboard provides data about the people and the labour market in communities across Tasmania, focussing on workforce information.

Users can view data for the regions of Tasmania they are interested in. The data can be viewed at one of four regional levels, or 15 sub-regional levels.

The dashboard can inform workforce-related questions, such as:

  • What are the top industries of employment in my region?
  • How have the number of people employed in an industry changed over time?
  • How many people are upskilling by completing a VET qualification?
  • How has the population of my local the area changed over time?

The recording below demonstrates how to use the dashboard.

The future of the Workforce Compass

This first iteration of the Workforce Compass has been developed in a collaboration between the Department of State Growth and the Brotherhood of St Laurence. The Workforce Compass will continue to be improved, expanded, and integrated with the other dashboards on Tasmania’s Population Data Platform over time.

Additional data related to regional workforce planning can be found at the Regional Employment Projections dashboard on the Skills Tasmania website.

Feedback is welcome. If you have any questions or a suggestion for the future development of the Workforce Compass, please contact hello@population.tas.gov.au
